The Organisation

The Vanuatu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) is Vanuatu’s National Private Sector organisation. Established in 1995 under the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Vanuatu Act, the Vanuatu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) is a statutory body with a 16-member Council that represents Vanuatu’s private sector. All businesses with a valid Vanuatu business license are automatically VCCI members.

The Vanuatu Business Resilience Council (VBRC) is a standing committee of the Vanuatu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and was established in late 2017.

VCCI’s intention to become an organisation that makes a unique and significant contribution to the future of the country by representing the private sector in dialogue with Government and others, and by providing effective business development services across the country.

The Position

VCCI is looking for a new General Manager in 2023, to steer the organisation into its next phase of impact. This important role is to provide leadership, management and direction for the Chamber and to influence and inspire business success and development across Vanuatu.

This is a multi-faceted, highly strategic role that works closely with the VCCI Council and its staff to deliver leadership, advice and support to the business community. VCCI is looking for someone with a deep understanding of how to work with important stakeholders including the Vanuatu Government and donor agencies, and who understands business and the needs of the growing private sector.

Essential Selection Criteria

► Credibility with the business community and Government organizations

► Positive outlook & passionate about creating a strong and vibrant Chamber

► At least five years' senior management experience in leading and managing a strong team

► Proven business acumen and experience

► Relevant tertiary qualification in business

► Experience in strategy development and planning and exceptional strategic vision

► Experienced and progressive thinking leader

► Excellent communication skills

► Ability to establish key networks for local businesses
