The Organisation
The Vanuatu Broadcasting and Television Corporation is Vanuatu’s national public broadcaster, established to provide trusted broadcasting services to all people of Vanuatu.
VBTC delivers nationwide radio, television and digital media services that inform, educate and entertain, while supporting national development, promoting Vanuatu’s diverse cultures and languages, strengthening democracy, and providing essential broadcasting during emergencies
and disasters.
The Corporation operates as a State-Owned Enterprise and is accountable to its Board of Directors, the Government of Vanuatu and the people of Vanuatu.
The Position
Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer is responsible for the overall leadership, management and performance of VBTC.
The CEO is accountable for implementing Board policy, delivering strategic objectives, ensuring financial sustainability and maintaining the highest standards of governance, ethics and organizational performance.
The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for the overall leadership, management and performance of VBTC, including:
Implementing the strategic direction established by the Board.
Delivering high-quality public broadcasting services across radio, television and digital platforms.
Leading organisational transformation, innovation and digital media development.
Ensuring sound financial management, corporate governance and compliance with all statutory obligations.
Driving commercial growth and revenue diversification.
Developing and maintaining productive relationships with Government, development partners, regulators, industry stakeholders and the wider community.
Leading and developing a high-performing executive management team and fostering a culture of accountability, integrity and excellence.
Ensuring VBTC remains prepared to fulfil its critical role during national emergencies and disasters.
Essential Selection Criteria
►Relevant tertiary qualification in Business Administration, Media Management, Communications, Journalism, Public Administration, Finance, Law or another relevant discipline with the minimum being an undergraduate degree.
►At least ten (10) years' senior executive leadership experience, preferably leading a medium to large organisation.
►Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, organisational transformation and change management.
►Proven financial and commercial management capability, including budget preparation, revenue generation and business development.
►Strong knowledge of corporate governance and Board reporting.
►Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
►Experience managing complex stakeholder relationships.
►Demonstrated commitment to ethical leadership, transparency and public accountability.
Desirable Selection Criteria
►A strong understanding of broadcasting, media, digital technologies or related industries is highly desirable.
►A postgraduate qualification is highly desirable.
