The Organisation

The New Zealand High Commission, Port Vila is part of a network of overseas Posts run by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT), Wellington. The Post represents the New Zealand Government to the highest standards of professional excellence in diplomacy, trade negotiations, international development and consular services. This is done by building and maintaining strong connections with Vanuatu that enables the New Zealand Government to achieve more than it could remotely from New Zealand.

The Position

The Team Administrator (Property) is responsible for the efficient and effective management of the Post’s property, facilities, vehicles and other assets. The position also supports the Administration Manager to ensure the safety and security of the Post’s staff and properties. The position may be required to undertake or provide back-up in a range of other activities in support of the High Commission’s operational objectives. Responsibilities will be allocated by the Adminstration Manager/Consul to make best use of the overall team resources and skills.


Essential Selection Criteria

► Several years’ experience in an administrative role

► Strong numeracy and budget management skills

► Strong understanding of IT systems – both hardware and software especially Microsoft Office applications and document back-up and security

► Understanding and experience in managing security issues

► Excellent English and Bislama written and oral communication skills are essential


Desirable Selection Criteria

► Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships and work productively within a team environment

► Well-developed planning and organisational skills, including ability to prioritise tasks effectively and work under pressure

► Strong customer focus, with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of people and manage effective working relationships

► Possess a strong achievement/delivery focus – sets high standards including accuracy and attention to detail
