Save the Children is an international organization working to uphold children’s rights and protection in different regions of the world, including the Pacific. In Vanuatu, Save the Children has been working with communities and the government since 1984 across a range of thematic areas including education, health, child protection, disaster preparedness, risk reduction, response, recovery, and climate change adaptation.
Save the Children Vanuatu is seeking for a research consultant to design and conduct a study examining Child Protection and Child Safeguarding situation in the Vanuatu education system as a key element of comprehensive school safety management. Specifically, the study will be looking at the child protection and safeguarding issues in a primary school setting in Vanuatu and examine the existing child protection systems and response services, both formal and informal.
The findings and recommendations from the research are expected to generate evidence to inform the design of a school-level safe school strategy or approach to enhance child protection systems and capacities, promote reforms, and tackle persistent attitudes and practices that perpetuate violence against boys and girls in schools in Vanuatu. This school safety strategy/approach will be piloted to several schools under the Vanuatu Seif Skul Project.
