The Organisation

The Vanuatu Institute of Technology (VIT), the country’s biggest Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Institute has the primary purpose as the center of excellence for public technical, vocational, business, hospitality, and continuing education in Vanuatu, contributing to the economic and social development of all its islands and citizens.


The Vanuatu Institute of Technology (VIT) is seeking suitably qualified and experienced trainers to commence in March 2026. Trainers will be responsible for facilitating and delivering VIT courses in line with Vanuatu Qualifications Authority (VQA) standards and the Vanuatu Institute of Technology Quality Management System (VIT QMS).

The Position

The Monitoring and Evaluation Senior Trainer is responsible for designing, delivering, assessing, and evaluating the Regional Diploma in Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL). The role ensures that learners gain advanced skills in MEL frameworks, data collection, research methodologies, program evaluation, reporting, community development practices, and evidence-based decision-making.


The position strengthens national and regional capacity in governance, project management, development effectiveness, and accountability through high-quality MEL training aligned with international best practice and contextualised for Pacific communities."

Essential Selection Criteria

► Advanced Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in MEL, Program Evaluation, Development Studies, Social Science, or related discipline

► Minimum 10 years hands-on experience in monitoring, evaluation, learning, research, development projects, or program management.

► Experience working with development agencies, NGOs, government programs, or regional organisations.

► Strong understanding of MEL frameworks, research design, data collection tools, and evaluation methodologies.

► Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities with excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially for academic and technical reporting and the ability to teach complex MEL concepts using practical, real-life examples.

Desirable Selection Criteria

► Teaching Qualification: VET Certificate IV

► Experience delivering training or capacity-building programs
