Applications close Wednesday, 24 September 2025
● Be the voice of evidence that drives brighter futures for Vanuatu’s children.
● Contract full-time position open to Vanuatu Citizens only
● Based in Port Vila with travel to the islands
The Organisation
The Vanuatu Australia Education Support Program (VAESP) is a partnership between the Governments of Vanuatu and Australia to improve the quality of education for all children. Working with the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET), VAESP supports schools and communities to ensure more children — including girls and children with disabilities — are enrolled, learning and thriving. The program strengthens inclusive education, teaching and learning, school leadership, data systems and disaster preparedness, while also delivering Australia Awards scholarships and alumni opportunities. VAESP is directly aligned with Vanuatu’s Education and Training Sector Strategy (VETSS), the MoET Corporate Plan (2024–28), and the National Sustainable Development Plan 2030, contributing to Vanuatu’s vision of quality, inclusive education for every child.
The Position
The Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Officer will play a vital role in ensuring VAESP delivers evidence-based impact. Working under the guidance of the MERL Specialist, the Officer will support data collection, analysis, and reporting across program activities, helping demonstrate progress against defined indicators across VAESP and MoET. The role involves close collaboration with MoET and VAESP activity teams, facilitating reflection workshops to turn evidence into learning and adaptation and strengthening MEL capacity across the sector. Based at the Ministry of Education and Training, with some provincial travel, this is an exciting opportunity to help shape a stronger, more inclusive education system for Vanuatu.
Essential Selection Criteria
► At least an undergraduate degree in a relevant field
► Demonstrated experience in designing, testing and deploying MEL tools and systems (e.g. KoboToolbox, Smartsheet)
► Demonstrated experience in collecting and managing data and information using ethical and participative data collection approaches
► Advanced English language and Bislama skills essential.
► Highly organised and excellent time management to meet deadlines with a proactive and collaborative attitude.
Desirable Selection Criteria
► French language skills highly desirable.
► Demonstrated experience in analysing qualitative and quantitative data.
► Experience working in the education sector is an advantage.
