The Organisation
The Vanuatu Australia Policing and Justice Program (VAPJP) is a collaborative initiative between the Governments of Vanuatu and Australia, aimed at strengthening law enforcement and justice institutions to improve safety, security, and access to justice.
The Position
The Communications Coordinator will support the development and dissemination of communications materials within VAPJP and partners, ensuring high quality communications outputs are developed and distributed in a timely, targeted and strategic manner to various audiences.
The role will also, when necessary, involve coordinated community engagement and outreach work with VAPJP partners, including developing a range of communications products and outputs in different mediums.
The role will work within VAPJP and link with the Government of Vanuatu (GoV) and Program partners (where relevant) to profile and promote the goals, achievements, lessons and impact of the Vanuatu Australia Policing and Justice Program (VAPJP) and partners.
Essential Selection Criteria
► Diploma or equivalent relevant experience
► Qualifications in communications, public diplomacy, public relations, media, or related fields
► Demonstrated experience in a communications role, preferably within a development context
► Strong written and verbal communication skills
► Superior research, analytical skills and attention to detail
► Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively in teams and with clients
► Highly developed organisational skills, time-management, agility and the ability to balance and prioritise multiple tasks, and work well under pressure
► Demonstrated dedication to equity, diversity and inclusion, particularly in a multi-cultural environment
► Excellent level of written and spoken English and Bislama (French desirable), including highly developed writing skills
► High standard of computer literacy
► High level of proficiency in photography, videography and use of social media
► Knowledge of and experience in video, photo editing, and graphic design software
► Ability to communicate professionally, enthusiastically. and cordially with a diverse range of people from Government, non-government, and donor agencies
► Be hard working, productive and highly motivated and have a high level of integrity
► Must be a Citizen of Vanuatu
► Have no prior convictions or police record
Desirable Selection Criteria
► Experience in communications work within police, law and justice sectors
► Experience of communications in the context of Australian Government (DFAT) programs
