The Position
Under general direction, the Assistant Program Manager role supports the delivery of Australia’s bilateral development program in Vanuatu, with a focus on policing, justice, gender, and disability. This role supports program implementation, policy advice, and representing the Mission at various external meetings and events. The Assistant Program Manager will play a role in financial oversight—including budgeting, fraud prevention, performance monitoring, and quality assurance—and is responsible for producing high-quality briefs, analytical reports, and other written materials to support the Mission’s objectives. The position also supports strategic communications and plays a key role in ensuring compliance with Australian Government policies and procedures. Our officers work together with a strong team focus to support the delivery of our organisational objectives.
Essential Selection Criteria
► Diploma or degree in development studies, public administration, law, communications, or a related field.
► Demonstrated professional experience in administration, projects or program support, or media communications.
► Strong judgment, problem-solving abilities, and capacity to prioritise tasks in a small, multi-disciplinary team environment.
► Excellent organisational and time management skills.
► Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Bislama, with a demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
Desirable Selection Criteria
► Familiarity with Vanuatu’s justice, gender, governance or disability sectors is an advantage
