The Organisation

Promoting sustainable and inclusive Trade, Trade, the Ministry of Tourism, Trade, Commerce and Ni-Vanuatu Business (MTTCNVB) is responsible for the productive sector and related economic activities. It works collaboratively with the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Forestry, Fisheries and Biosecurity and the Ministry of Finance and Economic Management (MFEM) when it comes to bridging agricultural and financial developmental issues.


Whilst the MTTCNVB’s involvement with the productive sector encompasses multiple dimensions, its main function remains policymaking. The ministry sets the medium to long-term direction for the industries, trades and professions that fall under its responsibility, supports their development and improves the business environment.


The Position

To assist the Vanuatu Government through the MTTCNVB to implement the government’s agenda on trade mainstreaming and to deliver a crucial reform for self- sustained economic growth, promote skills and knowledge transfer to the government of Vanuatu, with lasting benefits on policy ownership and the long-term sustainability of national policy making.


Essential Selection Criteria

► Master's Degree of Public Administration, Economics, Management, or a relevant discipline

► At least 10 to 15 years experience or relevant experience

► At least 5 years' experience in developing country context, preferably in the Pacific

► Trade and/or Economics background as an advisor or alternatively, a demonstratable relevant experience

► Experience in policy analysis including deep knowledge of all aspects of trade and economic integration


Desirable Selection Criteria

► Demonstrate competency in government planning, with experience in policy drafting and facilitation of corporate planning preferably related to trade development

► Experience interfacing with private and public sector at various level

► Attention to detail and follow through on assignments to achieve desired results.

► Demonstrable track record in meeting deliverables and datelines.

► Proficiency in spoken and written English is essential. Good understanding of French and/or Bislama is an advantage
