Palladium is the Managing Contractor for the Vanuatu Australia Policing and Justice Program (VAPJP), which is a long-standing and integral part of Australia’s support to Vanuatu, delivering policing and justice sector support.


The Program is supporting the Government of Vanuatu (GoV) to respond to challenges to the maintenance of security and the rule of law; and building longer-term capability to provide the justice, community and policing services needed by communities.


VAPJP entered its second 4-year phase (2021-2024) in January 2021.


The Position

The role will work within VAPJP and link with the Government of Vanuatu (GoV) and Program partners (where relevant) to profile and promote the goals, achievements, lessons and impact of VAPJP.


The Communications Officer will support the delivery of communications materials within VAPJP, ensuring high quality communications outputs are developed and distributed in a timely, targeted and strategic manner to various audiences.


It will also, when necessary, involve coordinated community engagement and outreach work with VAPJP partners, including developing a range of communications products and outputs.


Essential Selection Criteria

► Diploma or equivalent relevant experience and qualifications in communications, public diplomacy, public relations, media, or related sectors

► A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Communications Officer / or in related field (e.g., ability to provide evidence of high-level writing skills)

► Excellent communication, writing, time management and organisational skills

► An understanding of development related issues and organisations in Vanuatu

► Ability to work proactively and effectively without supervision and together with a team


Desirable Selection Criteria

► High standard of computer literacy

► Proficiency in photography, videography and use of social media and knowledge of, or interest in, use of video, photo editing and graphic design software.

► Ability to communicate well with a diverse range of people from Government, non-government, and donor agencies.

► Excellent level of written and spoken English and Bislama (French desirable), including highly developed writing skills.
