The Organisation

Ground Truth Solutions (GTS) is working with the Communicating with Disaster Affected Communities network (CDAC) and CARE Vanuatu in Vanuatu to help ensure that local emergency responders are able to factor community views into their humanitarian operations by being able to collect and analyse community feedback, and then translate it into real-time course corrections.

The Position

Ground Truth Solutions (GTS) is looking for a local consultant in Vanuatu to provide expert advice and work on parts of a project entitled ‘Communications Preparedness and Accountability for Disaster Response in the Fiji and Vanuatu’ for the period May 2020 - April 2021. The main objective of the consultancy is to manage the process on the ground and to take the lead on project deliverables, working closely with the Communications and Community Engagement (CCE) Sub-Cluster and its National Coordinator who is based at the NDMO.

Essential Selection Criteria

► The consultant can be either an international or a national individual, but needs to be based in-country;

► Have experience of working in the Vanuatu humanitarian / NGO sector

► Be able to work independently and take initiative

► Have good and clear written and verbal communication skills (in English)

► Be familiar with humanitarian organisation structures, such as the NDMO

Desirable Selection Criteria

► Have experience of basic research approaches and techniques

► Have experience of working for an international or national NGO in Vanuatu

► Have experience of data collection tools and methods

► Have helped organise or conduct training sessions
