The Organisation

The National University of Vanuatu (NUV) was established in January 2020. Its main campus is located in Port Vila and its purpose is to provide higher education advancement and lifelong learning through academic and professional excellence by way of training, teaching and learning in both the English and French official languages, research and international cooperation. The NUV has two Faculties – the Faculty of Humanities with five schools and the Faculty of Science and Technology also with five Schools established.

The Position

As a strong administrative leader who has expertise in supporting processes to enable excellence and learning, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor will assist the Vice-Chancellor to carry out his or her functions in ensuring the management of affairs, finances and resources are in accordance with the regulations of the University and are used in ways that most effectively advance the approved mission and strategic plan of the University.

Essential Selection Criteria

► An English/French bilingual academic of good standing

► PhD or Masters’ qualification

► Minimum 5 years’ work experience in management at a public or private Institution

► Knowledge of higher education program accreditation processes, practices and quality improvement programs, preferably within other regional tertiary institutions

Desirable Selection Criteria

► Demonstrated experience in proposal development, successful submissions, awards applications, and management of projects preferred

► Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office, database management systems and other integrated Finance, HR and student information systems

► Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to organize, summarize and report to a variety of audiences

► Excellent entrepreneurial skills including proven budgetary, management and team skills in an academic and practical institution
