The Organisation

Save the Children is the world’s largest independent child rights development organisation, making a difference to children’s lives in more than 120 countries. From emergency relief to long-term development, Save the Children secures a child’s right to health, education and protection.

The Position

The Senior Advocacy and Communications Officer is responsible for supporting the formulation and implementation of advocacy and communication strategies designed to increase awareness and understanding of Save the Children Vanuatu’s work with key stakeholders including donors, partners, the media, and the public.

Essential Selection Criteria

► Undergraduate degree in journalism, communications, marketing or a related field and/or 4-5 years work experience in a similar position

► Demonstrated experience in writing case studies, press releases, and other communication materials appropriate for an NGO stakeholder audience

► Demonstrated ability to think creatively and strategically to implement communications and advocacy strategies

► Strong understanding of the Vanuatu media, including social media, and communications industry and ability to cultivate relationships with media outlets and communications contractors

► Professional communication skills in English and Bislama

Desirable Selection Criteria

► Demonstrated skills in photography

► Awareness of development issues in Vanuatu, particularly around Save the Children’s thematic areas: health and nutrition, education, child protection, and disaster risk reduction
