The Organisation
Airports Vanuatu Limited (AVL) is a national organisation that manages the 3 main airports within the Republic of Vanuatu including Bauerfield Airport in Port-Vila, Pekoa Airport in Espiritu Santo and Whitegrass Airport in Tanna. AVL has a significant role to play in the safety, security, and economic prosperity of Vanuatu and must meet and comply with international regulations and standards.
The Position
Reporting to the CEO the primary purpose of this role will be to provide invaluable strategic planning and financial management in the areas of terminal related commercial activities and aviation development. The successful candidate will provide leadership to the commercial team to maximise revenues through increased retail offerings, car rentals and other ground transport activities. They will also be responsible for the revenue generation of the passenger volume related activities of Airports Vanuatu including aviation development, terminal retail, car rentals, car parking and advertising. The successful candidate will demonstrate values in line with Airports Vanuatu, including safety, customer focus, innovation, creativity and actively engaging with our community.
Essential Selection Criteria
► Demonstrated high level understanding of airline and airport business
► Demonstrated ability to work effectively with senior managers, clients and customers
► Eligibility to hold an Aviation Security Identification Card and pass the Vanuatu Police Check
► Ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships and balance competing objectives
► Ability to develop interpersonal relationships in all interaction to improve business performance
Desirable Selection Criteria
► Tertiary qualifications in a Commercial, Business or Aviation Management (or relevant) discipline or demonstrated experience in a senior position in an airport environment
► Strong commercial and negotiating skills at a national and international level
► Understanding of cultural issues and nuances for effective relationship building with international prospects
► Vanuatu Driver’s Licence or ability to obtain a licence
