The Organisation

The Vanuatu Australia Infrastructure for Development (VAI4D) program is a five-year (2024-2029) investment funded by the Government of Australia through the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). VAI4D supports the Government of Vanuatu’s Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Utilities (MIPU) to achieve sustainable and well-maintained infrastructure and services for all, through inclusive and effective partnerships


The Position

The GEDSI and Safeguards Officer will support the GEDSI and Safeguards Adviser on specific initiatives of VAI4D to mainstream GEDSI and Safeguards across MIPU/PWD and amongst other stakeholders. They will also be responsible for support GEDSI and Safeguards reporting and ensuring GEDSI and Safeguards activities are consistent with GoV, DFAT and ASI policies. The GEDSI and Safeguards Officer role is a designated local role based in Port Vila


Essential Selection Criteria

► Relevant degree qualifications or equivalent demonstrated experience and understanding of GEDSI and Safeguards and/or international Development.

► At least two years’ demonstrated experience in GEDSI and Safeguards or MEL activities.

► Demonstrated understanding of the social, cultural, political and institutional factors affecting development in Vanuatu.

► Motivated and able to work independently, while adhering to the requirements of the Terms of Reference.
