The Organisation

Save the Children has worked in Vanuatu since 1984 and currently implements programs in health and nutrition, education, child protection, disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation across Shefa, Sanma, and Penama provinces.

The Position

The WASH Specialist will use their WASH technical skills, strong understanding of Department of Water Resources standards, and demonstrated experience in designing and implementing community water systems to provide technical support and quality assurance oversight to Save the Children’s WASH activities in Sanma and Penama provinces.

Essential Selection Criteria

► Tertiary degree in Engineering or related field, or commiserate work experience

► Demonstrated experience in the design and implementation of community water systems in Vanuatu

► Strong understanding of WASH quality standards as defined by the Vanuatu Department of Water Resources (DOWR)

► Positive relationships with Provincial DOWR stakeholders in Sanma and Penama provinces

► Proven ability to support a remote team to deliver high quality output against tight deadlines

► Strong ability to provide WASH technical inputs and build the capacity of program staff in the same

► Knowledge of English and Bislama

► Sensitivity to Vanuatu culture, tact and constructive problem solving are essential
