The Organisation

Aligned with the EWB Australia’s vision, the Vanuatu program seeks to ensure that Technology benefits all Ni-Vanuatu people, with a focus on marginal groups including women and people with disabilities in both rural and peri-urban communities. It has immediate plans to grow one of the two main arms that the organisation has emphasised in its new 2030 Strategy and structure - ‘EWB Engineering’, aiming to develop appropriate technologies and their enabling environments to sustain their positive impact for communities.


The program currently involves work with various partners steaming from the Government sector to the private and NGOs sectors, such as the Department of Public Health (Ministry of Health - MoH) in the sanitation sector and the Department of Water Resources (Ministry of Land and Natural Resources) in the water sector; FieldReady, an NGO developing locally made technologies for emergency responses, and the Vanuatu Society for People with Disabilities (VSPD).


EWB’s Vanuatu Program is supported by the Australian NGO Cooperation Program (ANCP), funded by the Australian Government, as well as the New Zealand Aid Program.


The Position

The Senior Program Manager will lead the small EWB Vanuatu team of national staff, and coordinate inputs from international and national volunteers, pro bono engineering partners in Australia and consultants on a project by project basis.


This exciting role ensures that EWBs unique approach to technology innovation based on deep community engagement grows and reaches more people, at a time in Vanuatu’s history when engineering for people and the planet will play a critical role.


They will report to the Country Manager based in Vanuatu.


Essential Selection Criteria

► Recognised qualifications in Project Management, or Engineering - related disciplines, and/or equivalent professional experience

► At least 5 years’ program and team management experience, preferably in related technical fields (public health, water, sanitation, wastewater, energy, agriculture, product development).

► Experience working with the communities, local and international NGO’s, donors, the Vanuatu government, and the private sector

► Experience organising and facilitating workshops

► Vanuatu citizenship


Desirable Selection Criteria

► Highly proficient in English language (written and verbal), fluent in Bislama.

► Excellent written and verbal communication skills

► Ability to articulate vision, ideas and concepts clearly and concisely to a range of stakeholders.

► Have excellent interpersonal skills with a creative, solutions focused approach and be confident working in a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment
