The Organisation

Six humanitarian agencies are working together as a part of the Disaster Ready consortia to deliver disaster risk reduction and humanitarian response programs across Vanuatu, funded under the Australia Humanitarian Partnership. The Disaster Ready partners are seeking a skilled communications specialist to support the consortia generate and disseminate high quality content that demonstrates the impact of our work in Vanuatu.

The Position

Expressions of Interested are invited. The Communications Specialist will work with consortia partners to develop and implement a communications strategy that will enable the Disaster Ready partners to generate and disseminate high quality content demonstrating the impact of our work in Vanuatu. The Communications Specialist will form a part of the shared services team responsible for providing high quality Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) and strategic communications technical support to all partners. They will also work in collaboration with Communication expertise within the consortium membership.

Essential Selection Criteria

► Undergraduate degree in journalism, communications, marketing or a related field and/or 4-5 years work experience in a similar position

► Experience leading and coordinating Program Communication strategies

► Experience in upskilling communications staff

► Demonstrated ability to write case studies, press releases, and other communication materials appropriate for an NGO stakeholder audience

Desirable Selection Criteria

► Awareness of development issues in Vanuatu, particularly around Save the Children’s thematic areas: health and nutrition, education, child protection, and disaster risk reduction

► Strong written and visual communication skills in English, Bislama and French with demonstrated skills in photography

► Attention to detail, to manage several reporting streams concurrently

► Demonstrated ability to think creatively and strategically to implement communications and strategies
