The Organisation
The National University of Vanuatu (NUV) was established in January 2020. Its main campus is located in Port Vila and its purpose is to provide higher education advancement and lifelong learning through academic and professional excellence by way of training, teaching and learning in both the English and French official languages, research and international cooperation. The NUV has two Faculties – the Faculty of Humanities with five schools and the Faculty of Science and Technology also with five Schools established.
The Position
The Information and Communications Manager will be responsible for managing the information and communication of the National University of Vanuatu. The Information and Communication Manager will ensure the Information and Communications Operational plan is developed and implemented in accordance with the NUV’s Strategic for 2021-2030.
The Information and Communications Manager will be responsible for:
Positioning the NUV as the premier multilingual higher education and training institution of in Vanuatu and the Pacific region.
Promoting and maintaining a positive image of the NUV and its development partners.
Managing the NUV information and communication strategy and ensure the good promotion and upholding of the integrity of the National University of Vanuatu
Assisting the VC’s Office in promoting awareness of the National University of Vanuatu among the population and provinces of Vanuatu, as well as abroad
Essential Selection Criteria
► Bachelor of Information & Communication, Web & Digital Media or related field with proven years of relevant working experience.
► At least 2 years of experience in graphic design and social media content development preferred
► At least 3 years’ proven experience in Information and Communication
► Experience in University or tertiary institution settings is a preference
► Highly proficient in language and communication skills (English/French/Bislama)
► Highly proficient in design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite [Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop and Aftereffects] and concept development
► Skills in content development and writing social media posts are a must.
► Skills in videography, photography and editing are an advantage.
► Knowledge of WordPress
► A keen eye for aesthetics, typography and layout with the ability to ensure the final design is visually appealing.
► Possess initiative and receptiveness to feedback and suggestions on designs and marketing content, with interpersonal skills to deal with students, lecturers, management and VIPs.
► Preferably some working experience in event management and administration.
► Proficient in Microsoft software.
► Fluent in English, French and Bislama
► Perform and behave in a professional manner, with occupational knowledge, high level of accountability and with adaptability to changing situations
► Strive for excellence in quality information and communication skills, inclusiveness and teamwork
► Contribute to the NUV, with innovation, management and quality focus
