The Organisation
The National University of Vanuatu (NUV) was established in January 2020. Its main campus is located in Port Vila and its purpose is to provide higher education advancement and lifelong learning through academic and professional excellence by way of training, teaching and learning in both the English and French official languages, research and international cooperation. The NUV has two Faculties – the Faculty of Humanities with five schools and the Faculty of Science and Technology also with five Schools established.
The Position
The Human Resource Manager will be responsible to manage the NUV HRM strategy and the effective implementation of its key functions: recruitment and selection, performance management, staff reward and discipline, compensation and staff benefits, training and development.
Ensure that NUV is resourced with a qualified, skillful, committed and productive workforce.
Essential Selection Criteria
► University Degree in HRM or related area from a recognized institution
► At least 5 years’ experience in HRM at the management or executive level
Experience in University or equivalent settings preferred
► In-depth knowledge of HRM functions and best practices
► In-depth knowledge of Vanuatu Labour Law
► Computer literate, including preferably HRM software systems
► Knowledge of HR systems, databases, and metrics
► Ability to architect HR strategy along with leadership skills
► People oriented, inclusion oriented and results driven
► Excellent written and verbal communication skills
► Excellent active listening, negotiation and presentation skills
► Fluent in English, French and Bislama
► Work in a professional manner, with occupational knowledge, accountability and adaptability
► Strive for excellence, with communication, inclusiveness and teamwork
► Contribute to the NUV, with innovation, leadership and quality focus
