● NBV is seeking an experienced Chief People Officer to join their executive team and lead the People Capital function of the Bank.
● Contract full-time position open to Vanuatu Citizens and Residents
● Based in Port Vila
The Organisation

The Position
The Chief People Officer (CPO) will be responsible to provide strategic and effective leadership and management of the Banks people strategy by sharpening HR policies, fostering a high-performance culture, and ensuring alignment between the People Office and the Banks business objectives. This includes implementing targeted procedures to maximize the value and impact of Human resources, driving profitability, enhancing people retention and supporting sustainable business growth.
The Chief People Officer will work closely with the executive leadership team, the Board of Directors, regulators, and staff across all levels of the organisation. Key responsibilities include overseeing talent management, workforce planning, organisational development, remuneration and benefits, employee relations, performance management, leadership development, and ensuring compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements.
Essential Selection Criteria
► Master Degree in Human Resources or Administration and/or Master of Business Administration (MBA)
► Knowledge/experience in Human Resources Management principles, practices, and compliance requirements.
► Knowledge/experience in Employment law and labor regulations (local, regional, and international where applicable).
► Experience in organizational development and change management strategies.
► Experience in talent acquisition and retention strategies, including workforce planning.
► Experience in performance management systems and appraisal methodologies.
► Experience in compensation and benefits frameworks and market benchmarking.
► Experience with employee engagement and culture-building techniques.
► Experience with learning and development strategies for capability building.
► Experience with diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) principles and best practices.
► Experience with HR technology systems (HRIS, payroll, analytics tools).
► Experience in strategic planning and business alignment for HR initiatives.
► Experience in conflict resolution and employee relations management.
► Experience with data-driven decision-making using HR metrics and analytics.

► Advanced HR analytics and data interpretation for strategic decision-making.
► Global HR practices and cross-cultural management experience.
► Digital transformation in HR, including automation and AI-driven tools.
► Corporate governance and board-level reporting.

► Knowledge of emerging labor trends, such as remote work and gig economy implications.
