The overall goal of Save the Children’s Save the Children Korea-funded ‘BRAVE program in Vanuatu is to strengthen local humanitarian capability and vulnerable community resilience to natural hazards. A key emphasis of the BRAVE program is developing humanitarian capability within Penama Provincial Government. As a strategy for doing so, Save the Children will support the secondment of a full-time Provincial Liaison Officer for placement within the Penama Provincial Disaster Management Office.
The purpose of this role is to provide ongoing, day-to-day technical and operational assistance to the Penama Provincial Disaster Officer in the coordination of all disaster preparedness, response, and recovery initiatives for the Province. You will also be expected to work with range of stakeholders including government and other government partners.
The Provincial Liaison Officer will be based in Penama Provincial Disaster Management Office and will work closely with our partners.
This is a full-time position for 12 months with the possibility of extension.
Essential Selection Criteria
► Have good skill base in Microsoft office tools and able to work proficiently with Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
► Minimum two (2) years of experience in a relevant position.
► Broad working experience in Vanuatu.
► Experience in community mobilisation or similar activities; experience in conducting distributions is desired.
► Good reporting skills.
► Previous experience in Community Support Organisations or Non-Government Organisations.
► Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work successfully with a wide range of people
► Committed, honest and eager to learn.
► Fluency in Bislama as well as intermediate knowledge of English is required.
