The Position

Under close direction, the Head of Mission (HOM) Driver will perform driving and messenger duties, assist in the management of the office vehicles and support the efficient operations of the property unit for the Australian High Commission in Port Vila.

12 months fixed-term contract with a possibility of extension.

The key responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

• Drive HOM, visiting dignitaries and other AHC staff as directed.

• Maintain a high standard of personal grooming and presentation.

• Keep accurate vehicle records including travel/logbooks and fuel purchases.

• Carry out routine vehicle checks including fuel purchases and ensure regular general and ad-hoc and maintenance.

• Maintain the Australian High Commission fleet vehicles including washing and cleaning.

• Secure vehicles and keys.

• Provide general support for official events, including taking photographs as required.

• Provide a messenger service and assist the Property Unit as required.

• Undertake other duties as directed, including during high-level visits and crisis response.

• Work overtime as required.

Essential Selection Criteria

► Current drivers’ licence.

► At least two years professional experience in a driving and/or an administration role

► Good written and verbal community skills in both English and Bislama along with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
