PVIS is an independent, not for profit, co-educational Early Education to Year 12 school with a growing student population of approximately 450 students and 60 staff who bring a rich diversity to our school.


The Position

The Business Manager supports the Principal in the effective and efficient financial management of the school. The Business Manager is central to the school’s vision for education in Vanuatu by contributing specialist knowledge, skills and understandings required for the realisation of that vision.


The role is responsible for contributing to the financial strategic planning and management of the school, providing expert understanding of good governance and financial reporting obligations, with a primary focus being on the management of the school’s finances in close partnership with the Principal, PVIS Board, Deputy and Assistant Principal, School and Human Resources Manager and the Facilities Manager.


Essential Selection Criteria

► Degree qualifications (Accounting, Business, Management or equivalent) required

► Expertise (or willingness to become an expert) in financial software packages, as well as other school management systems

► Exhibit honesty, transparency, accuracy and capacity in financial management.

► Communicate both written and verbally in a clear, appropriate and confidential manner. High standards of literacy are essential to this role.

► Demonstrated supervisory and team engagement experience in a culturally diverse environment, with an ability to prioritise workloads and to deliver on challenging objectives in a timely manner and on budget.


Desirable Selection Criteria

► Vanuatu citizenship or eligibility to work in Vanuatu;

► Experience in a medium to large complex organisation

► A working understanding of government policies, regulations and grants processes as they affect the School and experience in making relevant applications to government entities.

► Experience developing comprehensive written documentation and reports, including policies and procedures as required.
