The Organisation

Engineers Without Borders Australia (EWB) is a for-purpose organisation with our National Office and staff team located in Melbourne. EWB works within Australia and overseas to improve the knowledge and physical resources of people in need via grassroots engineering programs, capacity development, and sector leadership. The Vanuatu program seeks to ensure that Technology benefits all Ni-Vanuatu people, with a focus on marginal groups including women and people with disabilities in both rural and peri-urban communities.

The Position

As part of EWB’s newly formed Technology Development team, the Technical Program Manager will help EWB seek to identify and explore projects where technologies and their enabling environments are identified by communities to live a healthy life and fulfil their aspirations. Once future volunteers are recruited to support specific technical inputs of the projects, the Technical Project Manager will facilitate these inputs with community partners.

Essential Selection Criteria

► Post-graduate qualification or bachelor’s degree with sufficient experience – in engineering, WASH or another technical-related field

► At least 5 years’ program and team management experience in related technical fields (public health, water, sanitation, energy, product development, mechanical, manufacturing, electrical, mechatronics, agriculture, civil).

► Scoping, developing, and delivering engineering projects with a focus on either mechanical, mechatronics, electrical, water or environmental engineering

► Leading the fabrication and testing of pilot technologies and risk management and health and safety initiatives in an engineering setting

► Thinking critically and sharing constructive feed-back to peers and colleagues

► Developing clear and articulated narratives in concept notes or reports

► Efficiently engaging with communities to develop technical concept ideas

► Gathering different groups or organisations to collaborate on a project together
